In the middle of the vibrant KNSM Island, amidst a mix of modern architecture and historical charm, is KANIS, an authentic warm dining café. It is a beautiful location by the water, where you can moor your boat at the jetty. The spacious south-facing terrace is the ideal place to enjoy a drink and a snack in the sun. At KANIS, we are not only a daytime spot where you can have lunch and enjoy a drink, but also a dining café where you can enjoy our frequently changing International dinner menu daily.

Since January 2024, we have taken over this establishment and will continue with the concept. At the end of February, we undertook significant renovations to improve the bar and kitchen for more efficient working and, importantly, to make KANIS look even more beautiful.

We are looking for a chef to help us with this new project. Do you have experience in developing menus, cost price calculations, making schedules, leading teams, and are you ready for a new challenge?

Job Description
  • Leading and directing your team;

  • Working closely with the team and manager(s) on the floor;

  • (Final) Responsibility for the quality and consistency of the kitchen;

  • Coordinating and organising kitchen operations;

  • Keeping track of procurement and stock in the kitchen;

  • Motivating, stimulating and correcting staff when necessary;

  • Receiving and checking orders;

  • Ultimately responsible for maintaining a clean working environment;

  • Responsible for identifying issues and deficiencies in the work environment;

  • Working cost-consciously, effectively and efficiently;

  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations;

  • Responsible for HACCP. 

Who are you?
  • Demonstrable management experience in the kitchen;

  • Full-time availability (4-day workweek negotiable);

  • Affinity with French-Dutch cuisine, creative mindset;

  • Responds to current market trends;

  • Good communication skills;

  • Passion for the hospitality industry;

  • Positive attitude;

  • Strong communicator who ensures a pleasant working atmosphere;

  • True team player;

  • SVH diploma;

  • Master trainer is a plus, otherwise, the desire to become one.
